Sultan Qaboos bin Said

Sultan Qaboos bin Said was born in Salalah in Dhofar on 18th  November, 1940, the only son of Sultan Said bin Taimur (1932-1970) and the eighth direct descendant of the royal Al Busaidi line, founded in 1744 by Imam Ahmed bin Said.(1)

SULTAN QABOOS'S MOTHER

Qaboos acceded to the throne on 23 July 1970 following a successful coup against his father, with the aim of ending the country's isolation and using its oil revenue for modernization and development,[4] moving to Muscat. There he declared that the country would no longer be known as Muscat and Oman, but would change its name to "the Sultanate of Oman" in order to better reflect its political unity.

Qaboos officially keeps Oman neutral, having contacts and normal relations with Iran while being an ally of western states like Britain and the U.S..
Oman has more normal relations with Iran than the other Persian Gulf states, careful to appear neutral and maintain a balance between the West and Iran.  As a result, Oman has often acted as an intermediary between the United States and Iran. (2)

SULTAN QABOOS UNIVERSITY (SQU)

 

 

SQU is the first and the largest university in Sultanate Of Oman. It located in Muscat- Alkhoudh It was established in 1986. There is 9 colleges in SQU which are  Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, Education and Science colleges which were established in 1986. Also, the College of Arts was established in 1987, In addition, the College of Commerce and Economics which was developed in 1993. The College of Law joined the University in 2006, and finally the College of Nursing was established in 2008.

 

There many buildings following these colleges such as buildings (A,B,C,D,E.F,G).

It has a big cultural center inclouding a big library, Omani studing center and the big hall).

The history of the country of peace.

 

 



                                   

 

Oman  officially called the Sultanate of Oman , is an Arab state in southwest Asia on

 the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It has a strategically important position

 at the mouth of the Persian Gulf. It is bordered by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to

the northwest, Saudi Arabia to the west, and Yemen to the southwest and also shares

a marine border with Iran. The coast is formed by the Arabian Sea on the southeast

 and the Gulf of Oman on the northeast. The Madha and Musandam exclaves are

surrounded by the UAE on their land borders, with the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf of

 Oman forming Musandam's coastal boundaries.

 

 

From the 17th century, Oman had its own empire, and vied with Portugal and Britain

for influence in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean. At its peak in the 19th century,

Omani influence or control extended across the Strait of Hormuz to Iran, and modern

day Pakistan, and as far south as Zanzibar. As its power declined in the 20th

century, the sultanate came under heavy influence from the United Kingdom, though

 Oman was never formally part of the British Empire, or a British protectorate. Oman

has long-standing military and political ties with the United Kingdom and the United

 States, although it maintains an independent foreign policy.
